Information We Collect

When you sign up or submit a form on the Site, we collect the following, should you provide it:

• Phone number, and whether you consented to receive SMS

The Site also records the following automatically when you submit a form:

• Your IP address
• Your browser’s user-agent string, which identifies your browser and operating system
• How you arrived at the Site, the referring page and any campaign tags in the link you followed
• A referral code issued to you, and, if you signed up through someone else’s referral link, the code that referred you. This means our records show which supporter recruited which.

We collect this to support our mission and to communicate with you, and we ask for no more than that. We do not use cookies for advertising and we do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on the Site.

Who Else Handles Your Information

We do not sell or trade your information, and we do not share it with other organizations. A small number of service providers necessarily process it on our behalf in order for the Site to work:

• Cloudflare: every request to the Site passes through Cloudflare, which provides security and delivery, and which operates the anti-spam check on our forms.
• Mailgun: delivers the email we send. Your email address passes through Mailgun each time we send you a message.
• Mobilize: where you register for an event through it, as described in the SMS section below.

Signup records and our mailing list are stored on our own servers.

Accessing or Deleting Your Information

You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, or tell us which record you mean, and we will act on the request across the places listed above. Opting out of SMS is separate and immediate. Reply STOP to any message.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely for the following purposes:

• To send you email communications about CalExitNow.com, the California Independence Movement, and related updates.
• To send you SMS text messages if you have opted in to our messaging program.
• To register you for events and meetings hosted by CalExitNow.com.
• To respond to your inquiries or requests.

We will NEVER use your information to advertise products, services, or causes unrelated to CalExitNow.com.

We Do Not Sell Your Information

CalExitNow.com operates an SMS messaging program to keep supporters informed about the California Independence Movement. By opting in, you agree to receive text messages from us as described below.

You may opt in to receive SMS messages in any of the following ways:

• Submitting your phone number through the opt-in form on https://www.calexitnow.com.
• Texting a keyword to our designated number as advertised on the Site.
• Providing your phone number when registering for a CalExitNow.com event through Mobilize.us, where SMS opt-in consent is collected at the point of registration.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies. You can expect to receive a few messages per month if we are planning a large action or event. We will only send messages related to CalExitNow.com and the California Independence Movement.

How to Opt Out

You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After opting out, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts will be sent. To re-enroll, you may opt in again at any time using the methods described above.

Our mailing list is kept on our own servers. We send email through Mailgun: when we send you a message, your email address and that message are passed to Mailgun for delivery. Mailgun acts as a data processor on our behalf and is bound by its own privacy policy.

We use the following third-party platforms in connection with our events, meetings, and outreach. Each platform operates under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them. CalExitNow.com is not responsible for the data practices of these platforms.

Mobilize.us

We use Mobilize.us (operated by Bonterra Tech) for organizing and hosting community events. If you register for a CalExitNow.com event through Mobilize, information you provide, such as your name, email and phone number, is collected by Mobilize subject to their privacy policy. Where SMS opt-in consent is collected through a Mobilize event registration form, that consent is used solely to send CalExitNow.com communications and is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes. When you interact with Mobilize.us, that platform may collect information such as your name, email address, and device or usage data subject to its own privacy policy.

We use Zoom for hosting virtual meetings and webinars.
